    The Wall

    The project

    • is a collaboration between the artist network Equator, the artist and filmmaker Erik Pauser, Stockholm and Interactive Institute (II), Tools for Creativity Studio, in UmeÃ¥.

    • will focus on and discuss the problems the Wall between Israel and Palestine, causes for individuals, society and culture.

    • aims at finding new ways to interact, reflect and discuss on these matters and to find a basis for new creative solutions.

The project is mainly based on recorded material – photographs, sound recordings and video recordings, from meetings and interviews with Palestinians and Israelis from different locations and with different backgrounds. Other documentation as maps and statements is also used in the project. The first part of the material was recorded and gathered during a three week journey in Palestine and Israel March 1 – 19, 2003.

People in a new environment, in new constellations give birth to new ideas. That is the thought behind the Interactive Institute studio, Tools for Creativity. Creativity is one of our strongest forces. It is necessary for us to develop and to grow at work as well as in life in general. It is crucial for us to be able to learn and solve problems. However, creativity and reflection needs space, time and isolation - all the things that new information technology tends to remove from us. Interdisciplinary research is carried on in the studio in order to obtain knowledge of how creativity and reflection can be supported with the help of information technology.
